Method
Plasma or serum nitrite by ozone chemiluminescence or Griess assay, with the assay recorded on the edge.
The method is part of the endpoint identity. Studies measuring the same quantity by a different method are held as separate endpoints.
Notes
The REDUCED product of nitrate and the proximal nitric oxide donor, so it is the step the dietary-nitrate mechanism turns on. NOT interchangeable with plasma nitrate: different timescale, and nanomol/L against micromol/L is a thousandfold difference that merging would hide.
