Endpoint
Peak postprandial blood glucose
CAT:outcome/peak-postprandial-glucosereported in mmol/L
Method
Highest blood glucose concentration recorded during serial sampling after a fixed mixed-nutrient drink or oral glucose load.
The method is part of the endpoint identity. Studies measuring the same quantity by a different method are held as separate endpoints.
Notes
A single sampled maximum, and therefore hostage to sampling density -- a coarse schedule can miss the true summit entirely. Will be confused with the integrated postprandial glucose response, which reached significance in PMID 27655440 where this endpoint was only a trend. Also distinct from fasting blood glucose, measured in a different physiological state, and from continuous-glucose-monitor time-above-range, which is a duration rather than a concentration.
