When activated, induces ER fragmentation and mediates ER delivery into lysosomes through sequestration into autophagosomes via interaction with ATG8 family proteins. Promotes ER membrane curvature and ER tubulation required for subsequent ER fragmentation and engulfment into autophagosomes.
