Probable serine/threonine kinase with currently unidentified substrates. In the inner ear, functions as a planar cell polarity (PCP) factor acting antagonistically to EMX2. It regulates the orientation of stereociliary bundles in hair cells by interacting with the PCP signaling pathway in opposition to EMX2. Additionally, it may play a role in controlling the apical localization of the GPR156 receptor in inner ear hair cells..
