Proteins/UNIPROT:Q9BVI4
Part of the small subunit (SSU) processome, first precursor of the small eukaryotic ribosomal subunit. During the assembly of the SSU processome in the nucleolus, many ribosome biogenesis factors, an RNA chaperone and ribosomal proteins associate with the nascent pre-rRNA and work in concert to generate RNA folding, modifications, rearrangements and cleavage as well as targeted degradation of pre-ribosomal RNA by the RNA exosome. Required for the translation of mRNAs related to activation of regulatory and conventional T cells but is not essential for global translation in regulatory T cells (By similarity). Ensures correct nucleolar localization of small ribosomal subunit processome member EMG1 as part of a complex with NOP14 and UTP14A. Blocks TLR4 endocytosis, causing inhibition of the TICAM1/TRIF signaling pathway (By similarity). This leads to reduced production of inflammatory cytokines which ameliorates local and systemic inflammation and influences insulin sensitivity (By similarity). Inhibits SIRT1-mediated deacetylation of TP53/p53. Required during early embryogenesis to ensure blastocyst formation (By similarity)..
