Serum prostate-specific antigen
A glycoprotein that is a kallikrein-like serine proteinase and an esterase, produced by epithelial cells of both normal and malignant prostate tissue. It is an important marker for the diagnosis of prostate cancer.

How it is measured
Total prostate-specific antigen concentration in serum by clinical immunoassay. The assay platform, and whether the value is total, free, or a free-to-total ratio, are recorded with each finding; platforms are not interchangeable without calibration to a common standard.
