Incidence of coronary heart disease

Method

Incident coronary heart disease events in prospective cohorts -- fatal and non-fatal coronary events including angina and coronary revascularisation -- comparing highest with lowest tertile of intake or blood concentration, pooled as a relative risk.

The method is part of the endpoint identity. Studies measuring the same quantity by a different method are held as separate endpoints.

Notes

Will be confused with myocardial infarction incidence, which is one hard component of this composite. The composite additionally counts angina and revascularisation, which are DECISION-dependent events sensitive to healthcare access and clinician threshold, so the two endpoints do not move together and this one is the softer of the pair. Also distinct from the broader cardiovascular composite, which adds stroke and peripheral arterial events.
