Degradation of GABA
GABA is metabolized in the mitochondrial matrix to succinate by the serial action of two enzymes, 4-aminobutyrate aminotransferase and suucinate semialdehyde dehydrogenase. Failure of the second reaction is associated with a rare human genetic disorder.
