Endpoint
Retinopathy of prematurity incidence
CAT:outcome/retinopathy-of-prematurity-incidencereported in risk ratio
Method
Proportion of infants developing retinopathy of prematurity, by screening ophthalmoscopy against the International Classification, pooled as a risk ratio or odds ratio. The stage threshold counted as an event — any stage, or severe disease requiring treatment — is recorded on the edge, since trials differ on it.
The method is part of the endpoint identity. Studies measuring the same quantity by a different method are held as separate endpoints.
Notes
14 papers, 8 of them pooled analyses. A FALL is benefit. The threshold matters more than usual: "any ROP" and "treatment-requiring ROP" can move in opposite directions in one trial, and an edge that does not record which is not interpretable.
