Endpoint
Nuclear cataract incidence
CAT:outcome/nuclear-cataract-incidencereported in relative risk
Method
Incident nuclear age-related lens opacity by standardised slit-lamp lens grading (LOCS-type) or documented clinical diagnosis, comparing the highest with the lowest exposure category, pooled as a relative risk.
The method is part of the endpoint identity. Studies measuring the same quantity by a different method are held as separate endpoints.
Notes
Will be confused with the cortical and posterior subcapsular opacity endpoints graded at the same slit-lamp examination and printed in the same table. They are anatomically distinct lens regions with different risk factors, and in both source papers this subtype reached significance while the other two did not -- pooling all three into an undifferentiated cataract node dilutes the one real signal into a null.
