Proteins/UNIPROT:Q2TB10
DNA-binding transcription repressor that acts as a master repressor of enteroendocrine cell differentiation. Acts upstream of the endocrine gene network and directly represses expression of enteroendocrine transcription factors, such as NEUROG3, INSM1 and SOX4. In the intestine, prevents enterochromaffin cell differentiation by repressing expression of PAX4, a transcription factor that drives differentiation of enterochromaffin cell and restricts differentiation of other intestinal enteroendocrine cell types. Also involved in the differentiation and development of type B pancreatic cells (By similarity)..
