Method

Score on a named validated vigilance or cancellation task — psychomotor vigilance task, digit cancellation, or equivalent. Instrument recorded on the edge.

The method is part of the endpoint identity. Studies measuring the same quantity by a different method are held as separate endpoints.

Notes

NOT working-memory. Cancellation and vigilance tasks impose no storage-and-manipulation load — nothing is held and transformed — so they measure attention over time rather than working memory. Caffeine literature reports them constantly and had nowhere to put them.
