Stimulated interleukin-12 response

Method

Interleukin-12 concentration in supernatant after ex-vivo whole-blood stimulation with a defined agonist -- Escherichia coli lipopolysaccharide, Lactobacillus paracasei or Pseudomonas aeruginosa. Agonist, dose and incubation time recorded on the edge.

The method is part of the endpoint identity. Studies measuring the same quantity by a different method are held as separate endpoints.

Notes

SIGN INVERSION HAZARD against the stimulated interleukin-10 response from the same wells and the same donors: this cytokine is pro-inflammatory and improves by FALLING while IL-10 improves by RISING. Also distinct from CAT:outcome/interleukin-6, which is a resting circulating concentration rather than an ex-vivo stimulated capacity; a stimulated-response node and a circulating-concentration node answer different questions and must not be pooled even for the same cytokine.
