Plasma cholecystokinin

Method

Plasma cholecystokinin concentration by immunoassay or radioimmunoassay, sampled after a fixed mixed-nutrient drink or during intraduodenal nutrient infusion.

The method is part of the endpoint identity. Studies measuring the same quantity by a different method are held as separate endpoints.

Notes

Will be confused with the incretin peptides drawn from the same postprandial sampling series and printed in the same table. CCK is a duodenal I-cell satiety and gallbladder hormone, not an incretin, and it does not potentiate glucose-dependent insulin release. In PMID 27655440 it was measured in only ONE of the two study arms, so its evidence base is narrower than the co-reported peptides even where the PMID set looks identical -- record the arm on the edge. Note also that a rise is beneficial only under a satiety hypothesis; under a gastric-emptying hypothesis the same rise is the mechanism of a delay.
