Ottawa Bowel Preparation Scale score

How it is measured

Total score on the Ottawa Bowel Preparation Scale, rated by the colonoscopist at colonoscopy: cleanliness of the right, mid and rectosigmoid colon segments each scored 0 to 4, plus a 0 to 2 rating of the amount of fluid present, giving a total of 0 to 14. Lower scores indicate a cleaner bowel. Whether the whole-colon total or a segment score is reported is recorded with each finding.
