One-year graft survival rate

Method

Proportion of transplant recipients with a functioning allograft one year after transplantation, pooled as a risk ratio. Organ, and whether the estimate is death-censored, recorded on the edge and not optional.

The method is part of the endpoint identity. Studies measuring the same quantity by a different method are held as separate endpoints.

Notes

SIGN INVERSION against graft LOSS, which is the identical measurement counted with opposite polarity and is reported in the same reviews; the two must never be pooled without inverting one. A second SIGN INVERSION against the incidence of acute graft rejection, a harm that improves by FALLING and which reviews sometimes present as a proxy for this endpoint — rejection episodes and one-year graft function dissociate, and treating them as one endpoint reverses half the literature. Also distinct from patient survival, which follows the recipient rather than the organ: a patient can die with a functioning graft, which is exactly why death-censored and uncensored graft survival differ.
