Leukopenia incidence

Method

Proportion of participants with at least one recorded leukopenia event, defined as a total white cell or neutrophil count falling below the trial protocol threshold, pooled as a risk ratio. The threshold and the cell line counted are recorded on the edge.

The method is part of the endpoint identity. Studies measuring the same quantity by a different method are held as separate endpoints.

Notes

A dichotomised event, not a continuous count. Confused with white blood cell count and leukocyte count as continuous variables, which are separate nodes: a change in the group mean count need not move the proportion crossing a clinical threshold at all. Worse, in an immunosuppression trial a fall in the mean count is often the INTENDED pharmacology while a leukopenia event is the HARM, so reading them as one endpoint scores an intended effect as toxicity. Excludes neutropenic fever, which adds an infection criterion.
