Endpoint
Choice reaction time
CAT:outcome/choice-reaction-timereported in milliseconds
Method
Latency from stimulus onset to a correct response in a computerised multiple-alternative reaction time task from a validated cognitive battery (CDR / COMPASS type or equivalent), averaged over correct trials. The battery and the number of response alternatives are recorded on the edge.
The method is part of the endpoint identity. Studies measuring the same quantity by a different method are held as separate endpoints.
Notes
SIGN INVERSION RISK against every accuracy endpoint, including digit vigilance accuracy and CAT:outcome/sustained-attention: all are reported as cognitive performance from the same battery in the same session, but a latency improves by FALLING while an accuracy or hit rate improves by RISING. Mapping one onto the other inverts the claim. Distinct also from simple reaction time, which has a single stimulus-response mapping and no decision component and runs 60 to 150 ms faster; the two are not poolable. Excludes speed-accuracy composite scores.
