How it is measured

Total score on the Boston Bowel Preparation Scale, rated by the colonoscopist after cleaning at colonoscopy: right, transverse and left colon segments each scored 0 to 3 for mucosal visibility, giving a total of 0 to 9. Higher scores indicate a cleaner bowel. Whether the total or a segment score is reported is recorded with each finding.
