The percentage of total bodyweight composed of fat mass.
Definition
Estimated via DEXA scan (gold standard, ±1-2%), bioelectrical impedance (±3-5%), skinfold calipers (±2-3% with skilled tester), or circumference methods like US Navy (±3-4%). Healthy ranges (ACE): men 14-24%, women 21-31%. Essential fat (the floor): men 2-5%, women 10-13%.
