TDEE (Total Daily Energy Expenditure)
The total calories you burn in a day — BMR times an activity factor.
Definition
TDEE is your actual daily caloric burn including movement, exercise, and the thermic effect of food. Fat-loss diets target a deficit below TDEE; muscle-gain phases target a surplus. Activity factors range from 1.2 (sedentary) to 1.9 (very active).
Formula
TDEE = BMR × activity_factor. Activity 1.2 sedentary → 1.9 very active.
