Coast FIRE
A FIRE variant: invest enough now, then stop contributing and let compound growth carry you to retirement age.
Definition
Coast FIRE = FIRE_number / (1 + r)^years_to_retirement. At a $1.25M FIRE target with 7% real return, age 35 → retirement 65 (30 years): Coast FIRE = $164k. Once you cross that threshold you can pivot to part-time, lower-paying meaningful work, or simply stop saving — math says you arrive.
Formula
Coast_FIRE = FIRE_number / (1 + r)^years_to_retirement
